Canada’s Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau on behalf of the country has sent his condolences to Indonesian people, especially those who lost love ones to devastating earthquake that happened earlier today, Monday 21, November, 2022.
Trudeau who through his social media platform disclosed this, said, “My heart goes out to those affected by the devastating earthquake in Indonesia.
According to him, “I’m sending my deepest condolences to those who lost someone they loved, and I’m thinking of all those whose lives have been changed forever. Canada stands ready to help in any way we can”, Trudeau said.
Report has it that On Monday, a 5.6 magnitude earthquake struck Indonesia’s main island of Java, killing at least 62 people and injuring scores while the epicentre was near Cianjur, a town in West Java.
This shallow 5.6-magnitude earthquake jolted Indonesia’s Java island, about 75 km (45 miles) southeast of the capital, Jakarta, where some buildings shook and some offices were evacuated.
Indonesia’s disaster mitigation agency (BNPB) said 62 people had been killed. At least 25 people were trapped under collapsed buildings, BNPB spokesperson Abdul Muhari said the search would continue through the night.
“So many buildings crumbled and shattered. There are residents trapped in isolated places, so we are under the assumption that the number of injured and deaths will rise with time”, West Java Governor, Ridwan Kamil told reporters.
