EFCC Boss, Bawa suspended, invited by DSS for investigation

Nigerian President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the indefinite suspension of Mr. AbdulRasheed Bawa, as the Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from office.

In a statement by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation on Wednesday, the President ordered the EFCC Boss suspension to allow for proper investigation into his conduct while in office.

 



It was reported that there have been many weighty allegations against anti-corruption Czar, including an allegation by the former governor of Zamfara, Bello Matawalle.

The Governor claimed that Bawa demanded $2million dollars from him and that he had the man on tape, also there have been weighty allegations of abuse of office levelled against him.

 



The Director of Information Willie Bassey said Bawa has been directed to immediately handover the affairs of his office to the Director, Operations in the Commission.

While the Director will oversee the affairs of the Office of the Chairman of the Commission pending the conclusion of the investigation.

 



It was reported that the suspended EFCC Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa had a meeting with President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday at the State House hours before his suspension.

In another development, the Department of State Services (DSS) has invited Bawa, the suspended Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

According to the statement released  by the Security Agency Spokesman, Peter Afunanya on Wednesday, while the suspended EFCC Boss, Bawa arrived their office few hours ago, adding that his invitation relates to some investigative activities concerning him.
