The Labour Party has insisted that the Saturday’s Presidential Election results was manipulated, while described it as rape of Nigeria’s democracy.

In a statement by the National Chairman of the Party, Julius Abure on Wednesday said that Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, carried out the rigging by refusing to upload results into its server.

INEC declared the All Progressives Congress Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu the winner with over 8m votes to defeat Atiku Abubakar of People’s Democratic Party making Labour Party, Peter Obi third runner up.

Julius Abure said the outcome only indicated that the government now runs a dictatorship, for refusing to listen to the voices of Nigerians.

Also, the Labour Party Vice President Candidate, Datti Baba-Ahmed assured their supporters of seeking legal redress while calling for calm, insisting that the election was not free and fair.

Datti said this during a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, hours after the Independent National Electoral Commission, declared Bola Tinubu as the winner of Saturday’s exercise.

He called on the judiciary to prove themselves to be impartial when the case gets to the court, wondering how the results for the presidential and National Assembly elections were collated when they weren’t transmitted electronically.

LP Vice said no amount of pressure would get the Labour Party or its agents to preach against peace, he maintained, adding that despite the outcome of the poll, they still have hope in Nigeria.

“The LP will continue to hold the President Muhammadu Buhari administration accountable for a free and credible election and remains optimistic of a great outing come March 11 when the guber and house of assembly exercise takes place”.

Datti, however, dismissed speculations of a merger with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), insisted that the party is fighting for its mandate alone while urged supporters to vote for the party in next week’s governorship and the house of assembly polls.
