FG to support Incubator program on job creation for Nigerian youths

The Federal Government through the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment has shown interest to support the University Incubator initiative which will facilitate job creation opportunities and empowerment for the Nigerians youths.

Founder of University Incubator program, Dr Eileen Okenwa, an American whose birth root was linked with Africa and her love for Nigerians is overwhelming disclosed this while responding to questions from Media Bypass News Editor in Abuja recently.

Dr Eileen, who double as the Co-founder of African Youth Diaspora Organisation (AYDO) was in Nigeria to partner Inside Nollywood Festival & Award held recently in Abuja and engaged with strategy partners to promote creative industry, media and entertainment sector of the country.

She explained that the University Incubator program initiated as a project that desire for long-term job creation in term of enhancing entrepreneur scheme among huge students while helping these students to actualizing their business ideas to investment and services.

Dr Eileen expressed happiness that her meeting with the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite in which to secure government support in term of reempowerment of the creative industry and leveraging on ecosystem to boost the private sector was fruitful.

She recalled the launch of the University Incubator Expo during the Inside Nollywood Festival which recorded a huge success due to a grand support from the Commonwealth Students Association facilitated selection of 20 University team to compete, with finalists and won by the University of Enugu.

Also speaking, the Country Representative of the Commonwealth Students Association, Chidubem Nwaibe said University Incubator program is the subsidiary of Africa Incubator which is an initiative of the African Youth Diaspora Organisation and Commonwealth Students Association stands as implementary partner.

Mr Chidubem who was thrilled at the launching of the Incubator expo in Abuja, by one of the finalists from University of Lagos that came up with an idea, creating an app to stop drug abuse said the main concept of the program is to have a platform whereby young inspired youths can transform ideation to product, focusing on the grassroots.

Commonwealth Country Rep called on Nigerian govt to support this initiative in term of access to land, security and in support to collaborate with other African nations for the success of the program while appealing to the Nigerian youths to key into this initiative for their own betterment and for the development of the nation.

By fostering innovation, collaboration and entrepreneurship within the creative sector, the University Incubator program is poised to drive sustainable social impact, economic growth, while propelling Africa towards a future defined by creativity, ingenuity and resilience.
