The Executive Director of Africa Youth Growth Foundation (AYGF), Dr. Arome Salifu has reiterated the need to partner the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) in terms of shared vision for harnessing the potentials of Labour Migrants for National Development.

Dr Salifu said this when he led the delegation on a visit to Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman/CEO of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), in her office, in Abuja on Tuesday as contained by the statement released by the Commission

The Director empathized on the need for constructive engagement of Labour Migrants to facilitate management of their resources and leveraging opportunities for contributing to National Development.

According to him, “the AYGF seeks robust partnership with NiDCOM in 3 key areas, to implement a more constructive way of managing Migration to ensure Migrants become assets in their destination countries.

This will make it seamless for them to give back and become assets to their home countries”, he stated.

Other areas for the partnership include: Expansion of AYGF presence to the West to extend institutional support for Nigerians in Diaspora especially in terms of Human Right advocacy and safety.

The 3rd is in terms of Public Private Partnership for resource mobilization and development.

While responding to that, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, who was represented by Engr. Sule Yakubu Bassi, Secretary to the Commission, welcomed the development as a proactive initiative that the Commission will key into.

Bassi however described Labour Migration as a multisectoral issue domiciled with the Ministry of Labour. He gave assurance that the matter would be approached in line with multi-agency cooperation and Labour Migration Policy.

AYGF is a non-governmental organization dealing with 6 key thematic areas which include among others, Migration for the sole purpose of contributing to positive change in the economic and social status of Africans.
