The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has honoured the best performing members of its workforce, during a productivity award ceremony, held at its headquarters in Lagos.
While the event saw a Corp member getting automatic employment, and some temporary staff got full employment.
The event, brought together members of the management and staff from various departments, and operational districts, was meant to recognise and appreciate staff diligence, professionalism and exceptional commitment to service delivery.
In his address, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of LAWMA, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, commended the awardees across various categories, for their resilience, discipline, and dedication to keeping Lagos clean.
He said “It will be a sin if hard-work is not recognised. All the work you do is worth more than anything, and this recognition is just a token to let you know that management truly appreciates you. It is also a promise that I will keep ensuring good staff welfare.”
He further encouraged them to sustain the good works, assuring them that their efforts will not go unnoticed, while advising them to distance themselves from negative influences, noting that excellence thrives when individuals choose discipline, integrity, and positive company in the workplace.
Gbadegesin further emphasized the management’s commitment to staff welfare, describing the Best Staff Award initiative as a promise to consistently reward excellence and dedication.
Earlier in her welcome address, the Head of Administration and Human Resource, Ms. Zakinat Ranti Dosunmu, described the award ceremony as a call to greater effectiveness and responsibility among staff, noting that commitment and professionalism would always pay off in the long run.
Award recipients, drawn from various categories — senior, junior and project, were presented plaques and gifts, in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the growth and success of LAWMA.
In his closing remarks, the Executive Director, Mr. Kunle Adebiyi, commended the awardees for distinguishing themselves through dedication, while urging them to view the recognition as a call to greater responsibility, assuring them that the initiative would be sustained.
“This is not a one-off gesture. Excellence will continue to be celebrated. Work hard, stay committed, and everyone will have a reason to be celebrated,” he said.
