NIMASA equips LAWMA, donates 1,800 protective kits in Lagos

In a bid to support the efforts of Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has donated 1800 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to street sweepers, at the Authority’s headquarters in Ijora-Olopa.

According to the statement released by the Lagos Waste Agency, adding that the kits comprise 600 reflective jackets, 600 nose masks and 600 safety cones, largely for use of LAWMA’s highway sweepers.

Managing Director/CEO of LAWMA, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, appreciated the gesture, describing it as the beginning of a robust partnership between both agencies, adding that LAWMA was committed to ensuring effective management of marine waste.

Responding, NIMASA‘s Deputy Director of finance, Mr. Samuel Ajayi, who  represented the Director General, Dr. Bashir Jamoh, noted that the gesture was part of the agency’s corporate social responsibility.

And the need to significantly enhance highway sweeping  efforts, adding that the maritime agency was committed to safeguarding both maritime and environmental interests. The event was attended by LAWMA’s senior management staff.
