The Director-General (DG) of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, has charged the Scheme’s Internal Auditors to leverage on emerging digital solutions for enhanced service delivery.

According to the statement released by the Scheme as the DG gave the charge during 2025 NYSC Auditors’ Workshop, which took place in Abuja recently.

Represented by the Director, Human Resource Management, Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammad, the DG stressed that the deployment of digital tools necessary in order to facilitate precise cash flow forecasting, real-time budget tracking and data-driven decision-making, which would ensure optimal use of limited resources.

He, therefore, enjoined participants to continuously update their digital skills and move beyond the traditional paper-based working methods.

The DG said, “We are moving beyond traditional paper-based method: thus innovations enable real-time monitoring and verification of transactions.

“Without doubt, deploying digital solutions in auditing will help to further remove human errors and inefficiency from operations of any organization”.
Nafiu remarked that the workshop theme; “Strengthening Accountability through Digital Innovation in Audit Process: A Catalyst for Strategy Cash Planning”, was apt as it revolved around financial frugality, which was essential for guiding the NYSC to achieve greater success in its operations, using real-time digital platforms.

The DG stressed that auditors were important in every organisation, as they served as gate keepers in daily transactions to curtail excessiveness.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the NYSC Management to sustaining transparency in all financial transactions, while pursuing its mandate of fostering national unity, integration and all-round development.
“Transparency is a vital pillar of trust in every organisation: so, as Auditors, you must not compromise standard,” he said.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Director, Internal Audit, Dr. Levi Agim, said the aim of the workshop was to strategically explore the integration of digital tools for enhanced efficiency in the NYSC’s internal auditing processes.

Goodwill messages were presented by Dr. Mathias Nicholas of the House of Representatives: Dr. James Nda Abalaka of GIFMIS, Office of the Accountant General of the Federation; and a former NYSC Director of Internal Audit, Mr. Leke Abiodun.
