The Director-General of National Youth Service Corps NYSC, Brigadier General YD Ahmed has applauded the Nigerian Army and other security agencies for their immense contributions to the success of the Scheme activities especially the Orientation Courses.

He gave the commendation recently in Maiduguri when he paid separate visits to the Theater Commander, Joint Taskforce (North-East), Operation Hadin Kai, Major General W Shaibu and also the Acting General Officer Commanding, 7 Div Nigerian Army, Maiduguri, Brigadier General AGL Haruna.

General Ahmed specifically lauded the Army for it’s efforts towards the resumption of Orientation Exercise in Borno State during the 2023 Batch ‘C’ Stream One, thirteen years after the last one was held due to insecurity.

General Ahmed appreciated them for the welfare of Corps Members, logistics, security and other types of support being provided for the NYSC Borno State Secretariat, especially through security surveillance of Corps Lodges across the State.

According to the statement released by the Scheme, the DG requested for continuation of synergy between the Theatre Operation, 7 Div and NYSC in Borno State.

In his response, the Theatre Commander, Major General W Shaibu commended General Ahmed for his unique style of leadership especially on the welfare and security of Corps Members and NYSC Staff since he assumed duty.

“I want to assure you of our continuous support for the NYSC Scheme and consolidate on the achievements of the return of normalcy to Borno State.

We will continue to create more enabling environment for the Scheme to thrive in Borno State”, the Commander said.

Also while receiving the NYSC Director General in his office, the Acting General Officer Commanding, 7 Div Nigerian Army Maiduguri, Brigadier General AGL Haruna congratulated General Ahmed for using his wealth of experiences to rebrand the NYSC.

He commended him for serving as a good ambassador of the Nigerian Army, adding that all security agencies are ready to offer every necessary assistance for NYSC Borno State Secretariat.

“Be rest assured that 7 Div Sector 1 will continue to do the utmost that is required to ensure that Corps Members serve successfully during the period of their service year”, Brigadier General Haruna stated.
