The former President of the United States, Barrack Obama has reacted to the attempted murder of his colleague, Donald Trump at a rally ground in Pennsylvania on Saturday.

Obama took to his social media platforms to pour his mind out over this incident, saying there is absolutely no place for political violence in America’s democracy.

According to him, “Although we don’t yet know exactly what happened, we should all be relieved that former President Trump wasn’t seriously hurt.”

The former President asked Americans to use this moment to recommit themselves to civility and respect in their politics while said himself and his wife, Michelle wishing Trump a quick recovery.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has identified 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania as the “subject involved” in the attempted assassination of the former President, according to a statement on Sunday.

The shooting which took place during a campaign rally at Butler Park Showgrounds in Pennsylvania on Saturday evening while the US Secret Service said its agents shot the suspected attacker after firing toward Trump who was speaking on stage.
Report says at first, the political leanings of Crooks, who was shot dead by the Secret Service after the attempted assassination, were not immediately clear.

While records show Crooks was registered as a Republican voter in Pennsylvania, but federal campaign finance reports also show he gave $15 to a progressive political action committee on 20 January 2021, day Joe Biden was sworn in to office.

Meanwhile, the ex-President, Trump on his social media platforms Sunday thanked the United States Secret Service, and all of Law Enforcement, for their rapid response on the shooting that just took place in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Most importantly, Trump extended his condolences to the family of the person at the Rally who was killed, and also to the family of another person that was badly injured, saying it is incredible that such an act can take place in America.

He said, “Nothing is known at this time about the shooter, who is now dead. I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear.

“I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening”, the former President narrated.
