President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appreciated the efforts of the security forces for rescuing all 38 worshippers abducted in Eruku, Kwara State
Tinubu who on X also expressed happiness over the 51 rescued students from the abducted Schoolchildren of Catholic School in Niger State.
Recall that the Nigerian President cancelled his trip to the G20 summit in South Africa to enable him coordinate the security efforts at home.
He said he is closely monitoring the security situation nationwide and receiving continuous updates from the frontline.
Tinubu vowed not to relent, adding that every Nigerian, in every state, has the right to safety and under his watch, his administration will secure this nation and protect the people.
After many days of hard work by the security forces and govt representatives, the Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq excited to announce the freedom of the 38 persons abducted at Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Eruku in the state.
In a statement released by Ibraheem Abdullateef, aide to the Governor saying this is wholly due to hands-on approach of President Bola Tinubu, who personally led the efforts to free the abductees.
The abductees were freed today, November 23. The Governor is immensely grateful to President Bola Tinubu, GCFR, for his direct initiative that made this happen.
The Governor also expressed appreciation to the Office of the National Security Adviser; the Department of State Services (DSS); Nigerian Army; Nigeria Intelligence Agency; and, of course, the Nigeria Police, who graciously deployed four new tactical teams to the State on the directive of the President.
It was confirmed that 50 pupils of the St. Mary Catholic School Papiri Agwara LGA have escaped and reunited with their parents.
A statement by the Niger State Police Command, signed by its Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun indicated that aside the 50 pupils that escaped and have returned home, 253 schoolchildren including 12 teachers are still with the abductors.
The statement pleaded for calm as government intensifies efforts through various security agencies to rescue the remaining students, pupils and their teachers still in captivity.
