The President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given a directive that his first year anniversary of assuming the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria will be celebrated on a low key.
Information and National Orientation Minister, Mohammed Idris who made this disclosure at the Ministerial Press Briefing on Wednesday in Abuja said this decision is in line with President’s desire to serve the country, efficiently use resources for the good of all Nigerians.
Idris said, “the President’s first anniversary will be on low key, which mean there will be no celebration, it will be just the sectorial presentation by ministries. This in line with Tinubu’s administration to ensure efficient and judicious use of resources to deliver dividends of democracy to citizens”.
He added, “The president has directed that useful information should be provided in an honest, timely and consistent manner. Thus, over time, the Ministry of Information and National Orientation finds it worthy to always brief the media and people on what the Federal Government is doing.”
Responding to question on disinformation which has rampant on the social space, the Minister urged media practitioners to work with the government to sensitize the space, appealing to them to also do their job with deep sense of responsibility and patriotism.
In his welcome address, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume who also confirmed that the first anniversary of the President will be on low key, admitted that the first year in Office of Mr. President has been a testament of sorts.
He added that the President’s first year in office also show unwavering commitment and resilience of this Administration towards serving the Nigerian people with diligence, integrity and dedication.
Akume stated that despite the daunting challenges from all angles, the Nigerian leader has maintained his calm and demonstrated exemplary leadership qualities, thereby guiding the nation with vision and foresight.
According to him, “From the outset, President Tinubu’s Administration set forth an ambitious agenda focused on economic revitalization, social inclusion, and infrastructural development.
He pressed further “Government has implemented significant economic reforms aimed at stabilizing our economy and fostering sustainable growth. Key among these is the introduction of policies that have attracted foreign investments, reduced inflation, and boosted job creation across various sectors”.
Akume boldly said that under President Bola Tinubu’s stewardship within first year in Office, Nigeria have witnessed significant strides in various sectors and through prudent fiscal policies, strategic investments, the country’s economy has shown resilience and potential for growth.
