Umahi: We’ll step up monitoring, execution of road projects in 2026

The Minister of Works, Engr David Umahi has vowed that his Ministry will step up monitoring mechanism and supervision towards accelerating construction of the Renewed Hope legacy projects as well as rehabilitation of the existing federal roads nationwide.

Umahi who made the vow in his New Year message to Nigerians reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to recalibrate their mechanisms towards achieving maximum impact on road infrastructure revolution in the country.

According to him, “For us in the Federal Ministry of Works, the new year is a time to recalibrate our mechanisms towards achieving maximum impact on the Renewed Hope agenda on road infrastructure revolution.

“It is a time to step up monitoring mechanisms and supervisions geared towards accelerating the construction of the Renewed Hope legacy projects as well as the rehabilitation of the existing federal roads nationwide.

He thanked and applauded the management and staff of the Ministry for their strength of character, tenacity of purpose, hard work, and unshakable zeal to revamp Nigeria’s road infrastructure, while looking forward to further cooperation this year.
Umahi also appreciated the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu who he said has continued to weld a strong willpower through policy regeneration and creative funding mechanisms which including his efforts to foster private sector inclusion in the development of Nigeria’s road infrastructure.

“I thank him immensely for the innovations he adopted and interventions he provided to make roads constructed or rehabilitated under his administration stand the test of time”, Umahi stated.

He urged the staff to embrace the challenges ahead with optimism and teamwork while prayed that the new year will bless all and sundry with unwavering faith and fill the hearts with hope and strength throughout this year and always.
The Minister who said challenges will come, but must be seen as opportunities for growth and transformation; added that they must be seen as a propeller, which pushes someone out of his or her comfort zones.

He explained further that these challenges must help Nigerians to develop new skills, perspectives and strengths so as to achieve better versions of themselves to experience personal growth and change.

Umahi prayed that for God to help Nigerians to navigate challenges of the year 2026 and help them to stay focused on their aspirations and commitments towards one another as fellow members of humanity.
