United States Secretary of State, Antony Blinken has announced that in Ramadan spirit, many of the US embassies and consulates abroad will host iftars and other events to share in the month’s beautiful traditions.

Blinken disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday while wished peaceful Ramadan to all those observing the holy month, saying the hosting of the iftars will also demonstrate United States commitment to promoting social cohesion, inclusion, and diversity within  communities.

According to him, “For Muslims here in the United States and abroad, Ramadan is a sacred period of prayer and reflection, celebrating with family and community, and remembering and serving those less fortunate with compassion and openness.

“It is also a time to act on our collective responsibility to help those in need, including those stricken by poverty, persecution, conflict, and natural disaster. Muslims worldwide will also commemorate this month through acts of service in their communities”, Blinken.

“We express deep appreciation for our longstanding partnerships with diverse communities across the Muslim world and remain committed to promoting religious freedom for all, both at home and abroad.  I wish the 1.8 billion Muslims around the world Ramadan Kareem.”

Muslims around the world anticipate the holy month of Ramadan every year. For the 1.6 billion Muslims around the world, the month marks a time of deep spirituality and an opportunity to better themselves

During this month, worshippers will abstain from all forms of food and drink during the daylight hours, breaking their fast at sunset. Engage in additional acts of worship, from giving more to charity to taking part in more prayers and reading of the holy book, the Quran.
