United States has welcomed the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights OHCHR report, which described authoritatively appalling treatment and abuses of Uyghurs, members of other ethnic and religious minority groups by the government of the People’s Republic of China (PRC).

The report which was out on August 31st, 2022, outlined in alarming details the human rights and abuses occurring in this China’s region, which concluded the extent of arbitrary and discriminatory detention of members of the Uyghur and predominantly Muslim groups.

The United States added that these abuses may constitute international crimes, in particular crimes against humanity, and that serious human rights violations been committed in Xinjiang region, which has reaffirmed the US Government grave concerns.

Regarding the ongoing genocide and crimes against humanity that PRC Government authorities are perpetrating against Uyghurs, who are predominantly Muslim, members of other ethnic and religious minority groups in Xinjiang of China.

According to the Secretary of State, Antony Blinken in a statement released on Thursday, stated that United States will continue to work closely with its partners, civil society, and international community to seek justice and accountability for the many victims.

“We will continue to hold the PRC to account and call on the PRC to release those unjustly detained, account for those disappeared, and allow independent investigators full and unhindered access to Xinjiang, Tibet, and across the PRC”.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, the People’s Republic of China has rejected the report by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) on alleged human rights violations in the Xinjiang region.

Chinese Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said the OHCHR report is a mishmash of false information and acts as a political tool to serve the strategy of the United States and certain other Western countries to use Xinjiang to contain China.

“The OHCHR fabricated the report based on the political plots of certain anti-China forces abroad, which seriously violated the duties of the OHCHR and principles of universality, objectivity, non-selectivity and non-politicization”, he explained.
