Zamfara: Another 2 abducted Corps regain freedom, NYSC says

The National Youth Service Corps has again secured the release of two females among the abducted Prospective Corps Members who were kidnapped in Zamfara on their way to the Orientation Camp in Sokoto.

It would be recalled that the Nigerian Army recently secured the release of a male and a female abductee, while efforts are seriously on-going to ensure the safe release of the remaining four Prospective Corps Members.

The NYSC Director General, Brigadier General YD Ahmed hereby reassures Members of the public, especially the parents of the remaining four abductees, that the Scheme in conjunction with the security agencies would explore every available strategy that would ensure that they are released unhurt and reunite with their families.

Management also wishes to appreciate the overwhelming support being received from the Nigerian Army in its concerted efforts towards securing the release of the abducted Prospective Corps Members.

According to the statement released by the Spokesman, Eddy Megwa, reiterated that the Scheme will always remain resolute in its statutory responsibility of fostering national unity and integration.

Be diligent, avoid shortcut to success, NYSC DG to Corps members

Earlier in a different statement, Corps Members have been advised to be diligent at work and exercise patient in climbing the ladder of success.

The NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Yushau Dogara Ahmed gave this advice in his address to the 2023 Batch ‘C’ Stream Two Corps Members when he visited the Nasarawa State Orientation Camp in Magaji Dan Yamusa, Keffi.

The DG urged them to avoid get-rich-quick syndrome and other acts of social vices that may have negative effects on their future.

General Ahmed also urged the Corps Members to serve their fatherland as good ambassadors of their families, institutions and NYSC.

“Be of good character throughout your service year and if it becomes very necessary for you to travel, make sure you obtain permission from NYSC.

Try to respect other people’s opinions and make good friends while in camp. Also respect the cultural beliefs of your host communities when you pass out from the camp”, the DG said.

The NYSC Nasarawa State Coordinator, Alhaji Abdullahi Jikamshi informed the Director General that a total of 375 Camp Officials comprising 197 for NYSC and 178 from other collaborating agencies working in harmony to achieve the objectives of the Orientation Course.

He added that all the registered 2,139 Corps Members have adjusted and are actively participating in all the camp activities.
