Omokri praises Tems for bringing back Grammy to Nigeria

Aide to former Nigerian President, Reno Omokri has showered praises to singer, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems for bringing the Best African Music Performance Grammy Awards back to the country.

Omokri, who on X said it is so delightful that a proud Nigerian who always speaks well of her country has achieved the rare honour of being a double Grammy winner.
He congratuled the singer, saying, “Tems, and thank you for bringing the Best African Music Performance Grammy back to Nigeria.

Omokri added, “We are happy for and with you, Tems. If only others can learn from you, they may have their own Grammy to boast of”.
According to him, “Congratulations, Tems, and thank you for bringing the Best African Music Performance Grammy back to Nigeria.

“It is so delightful that a proud Nigerian who always speaks well of her country has achieved the rare honour of being a double Grammy winner.

“We are happy for and with you, Tems. If only others can learn from you, they may have their own Grammy to boast of”, Omokri concluded.
Report has it that Tems secured the award with her song Love Me JeJe, beating Tomorrow by Yemi Alade, MMS by Asake featuring Wizkid, Sensational by Chris Brown featuring Davido and Lojay, and Higher by Burna Boy.

She won the Best African Music Performance category at the 67th Grammy Awards in United States on Sunday marking her second Grammy win, taking it from the South Africa’s Tyla who won the award for her hit Water in 2024 in the category’s first edition.

Tems at the Cypto.com arena on Sunday received three nominations at this year’s Grammys, bringing her career total to eight. She was also nominated for Best Global Music Album (Born in the Wild) and Best R&B Song (Burning).
