The United States government has concluded plans to send delegation to Nigeria, the Federal capital territory, Abuja on efforts to protect Christian communities and others.
According to the statement released by the State Department on Thursday, revealed that the Under Secretary of State, Allison Hooker will serve as the head of delegation for the U.S.-Nigeria Joint Working Group.
Adding that when the delegation reach Nigeria, they will support the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration’s efforts to protect Christian communities, counter terrorism, and expand the United States investment opportunities.
The statement stated further the United States delegation will begin the travel on Thursday 21 January to end in 29 as they will also visit Muscat, Oman; Manama, Bahrain; and Rome, Italy.
It revealed further that in Oman and Bahrain, the Under Secretary will lead two separate strategic dialogues, advance cooperation across a range of security, economic, and cultural interests.
While in Italy, the Under Secretary will engage with counterparts on the administration’s global priorities such as the Russia-Ukraine war, Venezuela, and peace in the Middle East.
She will also meet with UN agencies in Rome, including World Food Program and the Food and Agriculture Organization, to discuss accountability and oversight for U.S.-funded assistance, as well as creating new agricultural trade opportunities for American farmers.
