The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced planned maintenance works in Abuja and Delta State, while confirming the restoration of bulk electricity supply to affected parts of Lagos following a weather-related outage.
In Abuja, TCN will conduct annual preventive maintenance on a 100MVA power transformer and associated switchgear at the 132/33kV Katampe 1 Transmission Station on Wednesday, October 28, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The exercise will affect electricity supply to parts of Wuse II, Maitama, Life Camp and surrounding areas, as the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will be unable to receive power from the station for onward distribution during the maintenance period.
In Delta State, similar maintenance activities are scheduled at the Effurun 132/33kV Transmission Substation on Wednesday and Thursday, October 28 and 29, between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. daily.
According to TCN, the work will enable contractors to safely commission a SERGI fire protection system on the 100MVA Transformer T2.
Customers served by BEDC’s Refinery 1 and 2, Effurun, PSLM and Warri feeders may experience a brief interruption of approximately 20 minutes during essential switching operations.
Meanwhile, TCN said bulk power supply had been fully restored to affected parts of Lagos after a temporary outage on Tuesday, October 27.
The disruption, which began at about 4:59 p.m. during a rainstorm with heavy lightning, caused the Olorunsogo–Ikeja West and Benin–Egbin 330kV transmission lines to trip.
Engineers restored supply to the Ikeja West Transmission Substation by 5:28 p.m. through the Ikeja West–Omotosho 330kV line. Full supply to injection substations serving the Ikeja and Eko distribution networks was restored by 7:27 p.m.
TCN apologised for the inconvenience caused and reaffirmed its commitment to improving the reliability of Nigeria’s transmission network.
