In a strategic move to address the Nigeria’s complex and mutating conflict landscape, the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR) has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with five non-governmental organizations.

The partnerships aim to strengthen peace-building efforts through practical collaboration and direct interventions
across the country.

Dr. Joseph Ochogwu, the Director- General of the IPCR, described the signing ceremony in Abuja as a “fruitful, significant step” toward consolidating collective efforts in peacebuilding.

He reaffirmed the Institute’s dedication to delivering impactful services to Nigerian government, its citizens, and the broader African continent through evidencebased research, policy advocacy, and direct interventions.

Highlighting the dynamic nature of human society, Dr. Ochogwu noted that new and evolving challenges require deeper analysis and innovative solutions.

“Conflicts and social problems are constantly evolving and, in some cases, mutating. This demands critical thinking and forward-looking strategies to provide sustainable solutions,” Dr. Ochogwu stated.
“The Institute is committed and dedicated to the work we do, delivering services through research, advocacy, direct interventions, and capacity development for diverse stakeholders”, the DG added.

The Director-General emphasized that the IPCR works closely with government institutions, international organizations, community-based groups, individuals committed to peacebuilding.

He urged the newly partnered NGOs to ensure that the agreements translate into measurable impact rather than remaining mere formalities.
“These MoUs are signed today with the belief that you are going to do the work and impact lives. We do not just believe in signing MoUs; we believe in activating the spirit behind them.

“Our focus is on practical collaboration, leveraging comparative strengths, and ensuring that these partnerships deliver real value to society,” he added.

The five organizations that signed MoUs with the IPCR bring diverse expertise to the peacebuilding initiative:
Carl-Maji Foundation deal with women and youth empowerment, promoting the access to education, the economic
opportunities, inclusive policies, gender equality, and youth development.

3C’s Met International Institute deal with
Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) while providing professional training,
certification in mediation, negotiation, counseling, and conciliation for resolving conflicts in workplaces, families, and communities.

Ihotu Children and Women Support Initiative (ICAWSI) which deals with vulnerable women and children, while focusing on rural and conflictaffected areas with interventions in education support, mentorship, health services, and human rights advocacy.
Esteemed Hub Foundation deals with Youth Resilience and Development while
drives initiatives in youth empowerment, mental health advocacy, climate action,
gender equality, and sustainable development.across multiple states.

Peace Education and Practice Network (PEPNET) deals with peace education while integrating the conflict resolution
skills into schools and communities, trains peace ambassadors, and addresses root causes of insecurity
through education.

This multi-stakeholder approach marks a significant milestone for the IPCR as it deepens collaboration with civil society and professional institutions, reinforcing its commitment to conflict prevention and sustainable development in Nigeria.
