The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Director-General, Malam Ali Muhammad Ali, has lauded the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for its significant contributions to national development, youth empowerment, and community upliftment.
According to the statement released by the Scheme, the commendation came during a recent visit by NYSC Director- General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, to NAN Headquarters in Abuja.
Malam Ali specifically highlighted the invaluable impact and commitment of both past and present Corps Members serving at NAN, emphasizing that their dedication would be long remembered.
He also praised Brigadier General Nafiu’s leadership since assuming the role of Chief Executive Officer of the NYSC Scheme.
During the meeting, Malam Ali advocated for a focus on developmental journalism, asserting NAN’s commitment to elevating African narratives, particularly those reflecting Nigeria’s progress, to a global audience.
In response, General Nafiu expressed his appreciation for NAN’s objective reporting of NYSC activities over the years.
He pledged to strengthen the collaboration between the two agencies and affirmed NYSC’s ongoing commitment to consolidating its achievements through innovative initiatives that further contribute to national development.
