Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has made a passionate appeal to the Qatari government to explore the vast and untapped tourism potential of Nigeria.

During a recent meeting with the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Nigeria, Yousef Bin Hassan Al-Hail, at the State House in Abuja, Senator Tinubu emphasized the need for Nigerians, especially the youth, to embrace the nation’s rich diversity and beauty.

Highlighting the tourism sector as a significant source of revenue and employment, the First Lady stated, “We have not really explored the nation optimally.

“Our tourism sector remains our strong point. It gives employment. Look at our food, culture.” She further added, “We are a friendly people,” underscoring the welcoming nature of Nigerians.

Addressing the challenges facing the nation, Senator Tinubu acknowledged that these issues are not unique to Nigeria and expressed confidence in the current administration.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is doing all he can. We are undaunted and indeed the nation will be great again,” she affirmed.

The First Lady also extended her gratitude to Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, for her contributions to African nations.

She acknowledged the successful partnership with the Qatari government, citing positive feedback from the Federal Ministry of Education regarding ongoing efforts to tackle the challenge of out-of-school children in Nigeria.

Ambassador Yousef Bin Hassan Al-Hail, in his remarks, dispelled misconceptions about Nigeria, revealing that his initial fears, fueled by misinformation on social media, were unfounded.

“Nigeria is not what we hear and see on the social media. It is a beautiful country with wonderful people. I have been to Lagos, I have seen the beaches, it is a beautiful place,” he remarked.

He pledged his commitment to fostering stronger ties between Nigeria and Qatar for their mutual benefit.

The Ambassador also presented a letter from the Chairperson of the Qatar Foundation, Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, to the First Lady.
