She is the 2026 Miss World Nigeria, but Tamunosoye Karibi-George is determined to be remembered for much more than her beauty.

Armed with a royal title and a deeply
personal mission, the reigning beauty queen is taking her empowerment project straight to the heart of Nigerian youth mobilization—the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

Karibi-George’s journey from a National Service member to a national icon is a testament to the power of skill acquisition.

During her own time at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Kubwa-Abuja in 2021, she participated actively in the Skills Acquisition and
Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) training.

That experience sparked a vision: a
dedicated fashion design center in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where she now trains young men and women and equips them with start-up kits.

“We don’t give them money so as to avoid the temptation of them diverting it into another use than the business we train them for,” Karibi-George explained, highlighting her practical, hands-on approach to genuine empowerment.

During a recent courtesy visit to the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters in Abuja, Karibi-George appealed for a strategic partnership with the NYSC.

She is seeking approval to take her team into orientation camps across Nigeria to motivate incoming Corps Members to embrace entrepreneurship.

Her goal is clear: to pull the nation’s youth out of poverty by equipping them with sustainable skills. Her vision was warmly received by the Director General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu.

Commending the Miss World Nigeria for her dedication, General Nafiu noted that her efforts align perfectly with the NYSC’s SAED programme, which aims to transform graduates from job seekers into job creators.

“Government alone cannot provide jobs for the ever increasing number of young graduates annually,” General Nafiu remarked, urging Corps Members to acquire at least one skill during their orientation.

He assured the beauty queen of the Scheme’s readiness to partner with her, viewing her initiative as a vital extension of their shared mission.

As Karibi-George prepares for the 73rd Miss World Festival in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, she carries with her the moral support of the NYSC and a powerful message of cultural diplomacy.

Her upcoming national send-forth on August 5th, 2026, in Abuja will mark the
beginning of a grander journey—one that promises to leave a lasting impact on Nigeria’s youth long after the crown is passed on.
