President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Nigerians to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and the All Progressives Congress supporters as his government showcased its infrastructure programme at the launch of the party’s North West zonal presidential campaign in Kaduna.
Addressing supporters at the Kaduna Township Stadium, Tinubu called for votes for the APC at all levels, declaring: “Vote APC from top to bottom, APC everywhere.”
The rally brought together governors, lawmakers, traditional rulers, party leaders, youths, women’s groups and supporters from across the country ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Minister of Works and APC Presidential Campaign Council Deputy Director- General for Infrastructure, Mobilisation and Sensitisation, David Umahi, said the Federal Government had completed 348 kilometres of inherited and newly initiated road projects.
He added that 4,084 kilometres of projects were ongoing, while 1,811 kilometres remained partially completed.
Umahi said the figures reflected the scale of the govt’s road investment, but also highlighted the need for sustained funding, effective supervision and continuity to complete unfinished projects.
Among the major interventions highlighted was the Abuja–Kaduna– Zaria–Kano Expressway.
The minister identified the 118-kilometre Lot 1 section and the 81-kilometre Tungan Maje–Jere alignment among completed interventions, alongside 30 kilometres of the Kano section.
He said improved roads would reduce transport costs, strengthen agricultural supply chains, expand trade and connect rural communities with major commercial centres.
Other projects cited included the Northern Bypass in Kano, the dualisation of the Kano–Maiduguri Road and the Yakasai–Badume–Damargu–Marken Jalli Road.
Vice-President Kashim Shettima praised the administration’s focus on infrastructure, agriculture and regional connectivity, saying better roads were essential to linking farmers with markets and expanding economic opportunities across Northern Nigeria.
Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani urged voters to judge the government by completed projects and measurable results rather than social media narratives.
APC Presidential Campaign Council Director-General Abdulaziz Yari also called for issue-based campaigning and warned against misinformation.
The rally’s political highlight was the presentation of APC flags to seven governors from the North West seeking re-election.
The event underscored the administration’s effort to make road development a central part of its campaign message.
However, the Federal Ministry of Works said the ultimate measure of the projects would be their timely completion, proper maintenance, impact on transportation, commerce, agriculture and livelihoods across the region.
