Former Nigerian Vice President and People Democratic Party PDP, Atiku Abubakar has expressed delightful over the British Prime Minister, Liz Truss appointing Nigerian-born, Kemi Badenoch as Secretary of State for International Trade.
Atiku who showed excitement on social media platform Wednesday, said Badenoch’s appointment gives clarity to direction of new govt in United Kingdom which will accord to issues of international trade and investments.
According to him, “It is delightful to read that PM Truss has appointed Nigerian-born, Kemi Badenoch as Secretary of State for International Trade and President of the Board of Trade. Her appointment renews my belief that the vitality of the Nigerian mind is abundant.
“It is my dream to tap from this abundant resource wherever they may be in the globe and bring them back home for the work ahead of us. Her appointment also gives clarity to the direction the new government in the United Kingdom will accord to issues of international trade and investments”, he said.
Meanwhile, the new United Kingdom Prime Minister, Liz Truss, appointed British-Nigerian, who is a member of Parliament, Kemi Badenoch as a member of her cabinet on Tuesday.
Her appointment was confirmed by the Pm on Twitter as follows: “Kemi Badenoch MP @KemiBadenoch has been appointed Secretary of State for International Trade and President of the Board of Trade @TradeGovUK #reshuffle.”
Recall that Badenoch had vied for the office of the British PM as a member of the Conservative Party and made it to the top five in July, she entered the Commons as a Member of Parliament, MP, for Saffron Walden in 2017.
