Adesokan’s death: It’s painful Nigeria lost a patriot, Dabiri-Erewa says

Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission NIDCOM, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa has mourned foremost diplomat and defence analyst, Alhaji Rasheed Adesokan who died after a brief illness in Ibadan, Oyo State on Saturday.

In a statement released by the Commission on Sunday while sending condolence messages to Adesokan’s family in Ibadan, she described the deceased as a true patriot, honest straightforward and trustworthy person.

According to her, “It is indeed sad and painful that Nigeria will lose such a good man when the country needed his words of wisdom more during this challenging period”.



NIDCOM boss said the global community as well as the Muslim community in Nigeria will miss the wisdom and counsel of the late community leader.

She recalled that despite the fact that she had never met the late President of Nigeria Society of International Relations.

Adesokan had critically assessed NiDCOM after one year of existence, and had given the Commission encouraging and inspiring accolades, while urged the Commission not to rest on its oars.



Dabiri-Erewa prayed that almighty Allah be with the family and the community he left behind, forgive his shortcomings and reward him with al-janah firdaus.

Omooba Rasheed Adesokan, a veteran of Nigeria Civil war as a soldier, died at UCH Ibadan after a brief illness on Saturday March 25 at the age of 75 years.

Before Adesokan’s death, he was the Balogun Mumini of Yorubaland, Baale of Bodija Community and Director General of Centre for Islamic Information and Youth Development in Ibadan, Nigeria.
