The Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation, in collaboration with four strategic partners, has launched a landmark pan-African initiative designed to strengthen public policy and governance across the continent.
The initiative, named LEAD, was unveiled in partnership with the Africa CEO Forum, Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), and African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank).
It aims to make excellence in public policy the driving force of sustainable economic transformation in Africa.
Responding to persistent challenges in governance and public service delivery, the LEAD programme targets 50 high-potential young African civil servants annually, offering them world-class training and access to global policy models.
The goal is to build a new generation of reform-driven public sector leaders capable of addressing Africa’s developmental gaps.
“The human capital of Africa’s public sector is one of the continent’s most underutilized resources. Training, equipping, and empowering public sector leaders is a vital mission.
“Through this initiative, we are joining forces to build a high-performing, citizen-focused public service, driven by results,” said Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, Founder of the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation, in a statement on Thursday.
LEAD draws inspiration from countries such as Brazil, which achieved universal healthcare and digitized public services; Indonesia, which leveraged a local transformation strategy to become a global nickel powerhouse; and India, which revolutionized financial inclusion through the Aadhaar digital ID system.
Beyond individual training, the initiative aims to create a robust pan-African network of decision-makers committed to transforming public service delivery and tackling regional challenges such as climate change, industrial development, and the implementation of large-scale projects like the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation, established in 2020, is committed to transforming Africa’s public sector by investing in leadership development, improving policy, and promoting innovation in service delivery.
