The Former President of Liberia, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has called on Nigerian President-elect, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Ahmed Tinubu to champion women leaders in his government.

Ellen Johnson Sirleaf who made the call while sending her congratulatory message to the President-elect, Tinubu on her social media platform on Monday, charged him to ensure that the rights of women and girls remain a priority.



According to her, “Congratulations to @officialABAT on his victory in #Nigeria, and to the Nigerian people for exercising their democratic right to vote.

“I encourage the new President to champion #WomenLeaders in his government and to ensure that the rights of women & girls remain a priority”, she said.

The All Progressive Congress Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu declared winner of the Saturday, February 25 election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, defeating the People’s Democratic Party Candidate, Atiku Abubakar and the Labour Party Candidate, Peter Obi.
