Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Hon Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has noted with concern the plight of Nigerian Students in Sudan over escalation of hostilities between the Sudanese Army and the Paramilitary Group- Rapid Support Forces(RSF).

According to a statement released by the Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit, stated that the Commission has received the letter of Solicitation by the National Association of Nigerian Students Sudan for possible evacuation of  Students especially those in Khartoum, the Sudan’s capital.

NIDCOM Boss assured that the National Emergency Management Agency, (NEMA) which is in charge of emergency evacuations, has been making possible consultation with the Nigerian mission in Sudan and other relevant agencies.

She therefore, urged all Nigerian Students in Sudan as well as Nigerians living in Sudan to be security conscious and calm.

The violence which has been going on for days between the Sudanese Armed Forces and Rapid Support Forces has caused people across Sudan to continue sheltering in place, fearing for their lives, and running low on fuel, food, medicine, and water.

It was reported further that the toll has been high, with initial estimated civilian deaths of more than 300 and access to hospitals, vital medical services have been severely disrupted. Much of this fighting has occurred in urban areas, including Khartoum, Sudan’s capital.
