Diaspora Day celebration to address irregular migration among youths

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission NIDCOM has said that this year forthcoming Diaspora Day celebration will address the irregular migration among the youths who are looking for greener pastures abroad.

NIDCOM Chairman, Abike Dabiri-Erewa disclosed this at the Press Conference ahead of this year National Diaspora Day Celebrations held at the NiDCOM’s Headquarters, in Abuja on Thursday.

Dabiri-Erewa rolled out the issues to be discussed around the key sectors of the economy with the overall theme of this year’s Diaspora Day celebration as “Japa Phenomenon and it’s Implications for National Development”.
In view of this, she urged Nigerians planning to migrate to do so regularly, legally and responsibly, and also encouraged those in the Diaspora to never forget home, invest in their country as wells as be good ambassadors of the country.

The Diaspora Day celebration is an annual event, this making it the seventh since the Commission is established and wil be virtual and in suitu bringing together Nigerians all over the world from different works of life to interact and network.
The event also aims to recognize and honour outstanding Nigerians in the Diaspora who made significant contributions to National development in various fields, including agriculture, business, health, entertainment, technology and much more.

The highlight of the event includes a keynote address by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and goodwill messages from International Organizations, Solidarity messages from Prominent Nigerians and presentations on Diaspora projects and investment opportunities.
