In a powerful demonstration of solidarity and appreciation, the people of Ebonyi State have formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as their sole Presidential Candidate for the 2027 election.

The declaration, made by the Works Minister, Senator Engr. David Umahi, underscored the state’s unwavering
commitment to a leader credited with significantly transforming Ebonyi and the entire South-East region.

The endorsement ceremony, held at the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium in Abakaliki, was a grand affair.

It brought together a diverse assembly of top political leaders, revered traditional rulers, key stakeholders, and dedicated party faithful from across the state, all united in their support.

Addressing the vast gathering of Ebonyians, Umahi articulated that this
endorsement was a heartfelt expression of gratitude for the unprecedented federal presence and developmental strides the state has experienced under President Tinubu’s administration.

“We are not going to make another mistake. The past belongs to accident
of history,” Umahi declared, emphasizing a clear break from previous political alignments.

He further elaborated on President Tinubu’s extensive contributions, stating, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has done a lot, not just for Ebonyi State, but for the entire southeast. As he’s doing for other geopolitical zones, he’s doing for us.”

Umahi highlighted several landmark federal infrastructure projects currently underway, presenting them as tangible evidence of the President’s steadfast commitment to regional development.

Among these, a singular project in Ebonyi State, a 123km stretch, is valued at an astonishing N445 billion.

“One single project, one, which is 123km only in Ebonyi state, is 445 billion naira,” he noted, referring to the Trans-Sahara project running from Ndibe Beach to Nbeke Ishieke, bordering Benue State, which he described as a “top legacy project of the president.”

The Minister also drew attention to the dualization of the Enugu-Abakaliki Road (118km, N183 billion) and the Afikpo- Uturu-Okigwe Road (64km, N193 billion), projects poised to significantly boost economic activities and enhance regional connectivity.

Strategic bridge projects, such as the one at Ofeeke crossing to Cross River and the renowned Itu Bridge, were also cited as examples of renewed federal attention the South-East is now receiving.

Reflecting on his tenure as Deputy Governor and Gov, Umahi contrasted those years with the current era of federal inclusion for Ebonyi people.

“This is just a demonstration. We will never, never, never abandon our own. We will never abandon the man who has lifted the state,” he affirmed.

He noted the absence of federal appointments for Ebonyi during his previous roles, a stark contrast to the present, where numerous appointments
and projects are evident across the state under President Tinubu.

Governor Francis Nwifuru echoed these sentiments, stating that the endorsement of President Tinubu was a unanimous decision based on thorough assessment of performance, particularly dedication to infrastructure development, economic reforms, and inclusive governance.

He asserted that the South-East has greatly benefited from the Renewed Hope agenda, making it incumbent upon the state to support a leader who has demonstrated such goodwill towards the region.

In a dual show of support, Governor Nwifuru also received a resounding endorsement for a second term, with stakeholders commending his ongoing infrastructure development, empowerment programs, education initiatives, and governance reforms within the state.

Umahi formally endorsed both President Tinubu and Governor Nwifuru for another term, declaring, “And so I support the governor and the entire Ebonyi State in endorsing President Tinubu as our sole candidate 2027 and endorsing Right Honorable Francis Nwifuru as the sole governorship candidate in Ebonyi State. Thank you very much.”

High-profile dignitaries, including Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State, members of National Assembly, former Ministers, party leaders, and other prominent figures from within and outside the South-East, graced the event, underscoring the significance of the endorsement.
