Thousands of residents from Uburu and communities across Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State staged a colourful, spontaneous homecoming for the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, following his recent stakeholders’ engagements in Abakaliki.
The November 2 reception was marked by excitement and pride as residents welcomed their illustrious son and praised his contributions to national development under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Community leaders, including Onu Okorie, Prince Mathew and Comrade Kingsley Obini, commended President Tinubu for entrusting Umahi with the demanding Works Ministry.
They described the appointment as an opportunity for the former Ebonyi governor to apply his infrastructure experience to national service.
The residents particularly applauded the Federal Government’s renewed attention to roads and bridges in the South-East, where poor infrastructure has long hindered commuters, traders and businesses.
They expressed confidence in Umahi’s performance and pledged continued support for President Tinubu’s infrastructure agenda.
The gathering also saw residents declare their commitment to backing Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, citing the administration’s investments in national infrastructure and its inclusion of their son in the Federal Executive Council.
For Uburu and Ohaozara, the reception was more than a homecoming. It was a public expression of pride, gratitude and renewed hope that the South-East would continue to benefit from federal development efforts.
