The Former Nigerian Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode has congratulated the Speaker of the House of Representatives over the rumour of his appointment as the Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday.

Fani-Kayode took to his social media platform to celebrate Gbajabiamila which he claimed to be his friend and brother of 40 years, adding that it’s a well-deserved appointment to be the Chief of Staff of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

A report on Thursday by Leadership Newspaper claimed that Tinubu appointed Gbajabiamila as chief of staff while there was no official confirmation to this report.

According to Fani-Kayode, “This appointment proves to the world that in this dispensation and under this administration appointments are made based on merit, loyalty and competence.

“The Speaker’s courage, resilience, determination, sense of justice and commitment is second to none and I am very proud of him. I wish him well in his new assignment and I have no doubt that he will do an excellent job. May God continue to bless, guide and protect him”, he added.

Reacting to this rumour of his appointment, Femi Gbajabiamila who was reelected as an House of Representatives member for Surulere Constituency in Lagos State during the February National Assembly elections.

He said, “Be patient. The system works in its own way, allow the system to work,” Gbajabiamila told a journalist that quizzed him at the State House in Abuja on Thursday.

Since the election which took place on the same day as presidential election won by Tinubu, the Speaker has been tagged the president’s ‘right hand man’ due to his visibility in majority of the president’s engagements.

Meanwhile, the report by the Leadership Newspaper said the President introduced Gbajabiamila as his chief of staff during a meeting with Service Chiefs at the Presidential Villa on Thursday.

The Guardian Correspondent gathered that President Tinubu’s meeting with the Service Chiefs lasted for about two hours where he gave marching orders on curbing insecurity in Nigeria.

Tinubu, who decried the declining security in the country, said he will not accept a situation in which the nation’s fortunes continues to dwindle, as his administration is determined to build on whatever gains that have so far been made.

The National Security Adviser (NSA) Maj Gen Babagana Monguno (rtd) after the meeting said Tinubu told the security chiefs that the new administration is determined to turn the tide of insecurity besetting the country.
