The Tinubu Media Support Group (TMSG) has said that N2. 45 trillion sustained intervention fund for sub-national governments in 17 months is another solid proof of the Federal Government’s fiscal discipline.

The group said that details of financial support from the federal government to the sub-nationals in recent months show good conscience and a sound fiscal discipline profile of the President Bola Tinubu administration.

In a statement signed by its Chairman Emeka Nwankpa and Secretary Dapo Okubanjo, the group noted that the disbursement of N2.45 trillion in the last 17 straight months for infrastructure and security projects reflects equitable allocation of funds.

It said: “We are aware that between March 2024 and August 2025, the President Bola Tinubu administration disbursed N2.45 trillion in financial support to the subnationals for infrastructure and security projects.

“These funds are disbursed monthly under a special intervention programme from non-oil savings, as part of efforts to accelerate project executions across the country.

“Although details of state-by-state disbursement have not been made public, it is obvious that no state is left out.
“We see this as a testament to the non-partisan credentials of the Tinubu administration of the intervention fund, considering that we have had situations in the past where some states were left out of disbursements because their governors did not belong to the ruling party.

“We recall that the Infrastructure Support Fund was established within a few months of the President Bola Tinubu administration, in July 2023 to be specific, as part of measures to cushion the effect of the removal of fuel subsidy on the people.

“This is not the regular, statutory monthly allocation from the federation account. It was essential to ensure that states can intervene and address critical infrastructural needs as well as security.
“Indeed, the federal government has continued to live up to its responsibility of ensuring that the sub-nationals are not starved of funds. These are funds that are expected to be used for the benefit of Nigerians in all corners of the country.”

While urging the various govts at subnational levels to always ensure that Nigerians enjoy the benefits of the intervention funds, especially at the grassroots.

TMSG tasked Nigerians to endeavour to take more interest in the governance of their elected representatives to ensure even growth and development across the country.
