The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has been bestowed with the prestigious ‘Image Maker Award 2026’ by Vanguard Media Limited, publishers of the esteemed Vanguard newspaper.
Idris lauded the recognition as a powerful affirmation of the Federal Government’s steadfast commitment to cultivating trust and fortifying the communication ecosystem that underpins its ongoing reform efforts.
During an elaborate ceremony held on Friday at the Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, Minister Idris underscored the timely significance of this award, arriving at a pivotal moment for Nigeria characterized by bold reforms and a dedicated drive to reposition the nation for sustainable growth.
“This award is a testament to the trust we strive to build with every Nigerian. Communication is at the heart of governance, and it must foster confidence, unity, and hope,” stated Idris while emphasized, “Communication must not only inform but also build trust.”
He further highlighted the critical importance of transparency and consistent engagement with both the public and the media, noting that fostering open dialogue has been instrumental in bridging the divide between governmental actions and public perception.
The Minister also underscored the vital role of timely and accurate information in matters pertaining to national security. He stressed the ongoing collaborative efforts with security agencies and media partners to maintain public calm and reinforce confidence in the government’s endeavors.
