The United States has insisted on de-escalation of conflict between the Isreali and the Republic of Iran that led to the high in tension over the launching of 300 missiles and drones from Iranian soil directly targeted at the state of Israel on Saturday.
State Department Spokesman, Mathew Miller who in a Press Briefing on Tuesday made it known, said Israel has sovereign decisions on if to retaliate the attack, adding that the United States is committed to defense Israel but insisted on no escalation of this conflict.
He said, “Obviously, Israel has its sovereign decisions. But we have been clear that we are committed to Israel’s defense but we do want to see, as you’ve heard multiple members of the administration say, no escalation of this conflict”.
Miller said there are high tension over this conflict, according to him, “It’s always tough to assign an exact percentage or say if they’ve gone up or gone down, partially because we have been at risk of escalation of this conflict really since October 7th”.
He made it clear that the United States Government been working so hard to avoid the escalation. “It’s been something that we have been working to avoid, and something that we have been working to contain, and there have been various periods where the risk of escalation has gone up.
He added, “Obviously, over the weekend we saw risk of escalation increase dramatically. And of course, the Iranians did escalate the conflict. This was clearly an escalatory act – the launching of 300 missiles and drones from Iranian soil directly targeted at the state of Israel.
“And so what we’re going to continue to do is try to de-escalate the conflict. But as long as the war in Gaza continues, we’re not going to be back at the place we were before October 7th.
“It is an ongoing process of trying to keep tensions in the region – to reduce tensions in the region and try to maintain as much calm as possible, knowing that there is an ongoing conflict that obviously exacerbates tensions in Israel and around the region.
It was reported that Iran on Saturday launched retaliatory attacks against Israel in a major new escalation in the Middle East, while this attack comes two weeks after Israel’s strike on the Iranian consulate in Syria.
Hundreds of drones along with cruise missiles as part of Iran’s attack launched against Israel and the Israeli Defense forces establishment estimates that the drones launched from Iran was expected to reach “Israel” early Sunday between 2:00 am and 4:00 am.
Dozens of surface-to-surface missile launched were identified approaching Israeli territory as the IDF Aerial Defense Array successfully intercepted the majority of the launches using the Arrow Aerial Defense System, together with Israel’s strategic allies, before the launches crossed into Israeli territory.
Isreali forces said that a small number of hits were identified, including at an IDF base in southern Israel, where minor damage was caused to infrastructure, adding that many dozens of hostile aircraft, as well as dozens of cruise missiles, identified approaching Israeli territory from Iran and intercepted.
Meanwhile, Iran’s President, Ebrahim Raisi said in a recent statement that the Iranian armed forces taught the zionist enemy a lesson and any new reckless response from the enemy will be met with a stronger and harsher response.
Also, The Israel Defense Force Chief of the General Staff, LTG Herzi Halevi, spoke with the United Kingdom Chief of the Defence Staff, Admiral Sir Antony David Radakin, on Monday.
LTG Halevi thanked the Admiral for UK Armed Forces’ assistance in the joint defensive effort to thwart Saturday’s wide-scale Iranian offensive. The two militaries’ relationship carried strategic importance in maintaining regional stability and security in the Middle East.
