The United States Vice President, Kamala Harris has revealed that the tragic incident in Louisville makes it the 146th mass shooting in the nation this year.

Harris who disclosed this on her official social media platform while reacting to the shooting said America need leaders with the courage to act.

According to her, “We grieve for those lost and pray for those wounded in Louisville, the 146th mass shooting in our nation this year.

“We need leaders with the courage to act. We can’t fall for a false choice between upholding 2nd Amendment and saving lives. We can do both”, the VP said.

Five people were killed and eight others were injured in a mass shooting at a bank in Kentucky’s largest city on Monday morning, according to police.

The suspect was killed by officers responding to the scene at Old National Bank in Louisville, police said. Of the eight people injured in the mass shooting, four remain at the University of Louisville Hospital.

One of those patients is still in critical condition, hospital officials said, and the other three patients are stable and in fair condition.

Meanwhile, President Joe Biden faulted the Republican in Congress over the tragic shooting in Louisville, for rejecting the Act to curb gun violence in America.

He asked how many more Americans must die before Republicans in Congress will act to protect the communities, saying it’s long past time that the country require safe storage of firearms.

Biden noted that a strong majority of Americans want lawmakers to act on commonsense gun safety reforms. “It’s unconscionable, it’s reckless, and too many Americans are paying with their lives.

“Instead, from Florida to North Carolina to the U.S. House of Representatives, we’ve watched Republican officials double down on dangerous bills that make our schools, places of worship, and communities less safe”, he said.

The President said further that his wife, Jill and himself are praying for those killed and injured in the tragic shooting in Louisville, and for the survivors who will carry grief and trauma for the rest of their lives.

Biden appreciated the first responders, he said, “We are grateful to the Louisville Metropolitan Police Department officers who quickly and courageously stepped into the line of fire to save others”.
