The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has received the 2026 Pillar of Integrity in Public Service Award from Verbatim Magazine in recognition of its commitment to ethics, transparency and accountability.
The award was presented to the Corporation’s Managing Director/Chief Executive, Mr. Thompson Oludare Sunday, who was represented by the Head of Communication and Public Affairs, Ms. Hawwau Gambo, at the 2026 Verbatim Awards in Abuja.
The ceremony was organised by Verbatim Print & Broadcast Limited in partnership with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
The NDIC earned the honour after emerging second overall in the ICPC’s 2025 Ethics and Integrity Compliance Scorecard (EICS).
The scorecard assesses federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies across four areas: management culture and structure, financial management systems, administrative systems, and anti-corruption initiatives.
Delivering the keynote address, titled *“The Power of Integrity in National Development: Strengthening Public Institutions, Restoring Trust and Driving Prosperity,” the ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, represented by the Director of the Systems Study and Review Department, Mr. Olusegun Adigun, underscored the importance of integrity in strengthening public institutions.
Receiving the award on behalf of the NDIC, Ms. Gambo commended Verbatim Print & Broadcast Limited for recognising the Corporation’s performance through an independently validated integrity assessment.
She reaffirmed the NDIC’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of transparency, accountability and ethical governance as it carries out its mandates of deposit guarantee, bank supervision in collaboration with the Central Bank of Nigeria, failure resolution and bank liquidation.
Ms. Gambo said the recognition reflected the Corporation’s sustained efforts to build stakeholder confidence and would further motivate the NDIC to deepen compliance, professionalism and public trust.
Through its work to protect depositors, strengthen confidence in the banking sector and promote financial system stability, the NDIC continues to position integrity as a cornerstone of effective public service.
