NIDCOM Boss hails Nigerian Community’s impact in Alberta, Canada

The Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa has expresses gratitude to the Speaker of the Alberta Legislature, Hon Nathan Cooper for recognising and appreciating the Nigerian Community’s progressive impact in Alberta and Canada in general.

Dabiri-Erewa who in a statement released the Commission praised the Nigerian community for their contributions to Alberta, while noted how they have become good ambassadors of Nigeria,
According to her, “The Nigerian community in Alberta has shown that beyond numbers, they are progressive, hardworking, and contribute significantly to the province’s growth.”

She encouraged Cooper to visit Nigeria, while highlighting the importance of fostering closer ties between both regions, “Nigeria is full of opportunities and possibilities. I invite you to experience the real Nigeria, a country with resilience, rich culture, and immense economic potential”.
The NIDCOM Boss also urged the Nigerians in Alberta to invest in the country, reinforcing the need for stronger economic partnerships between Nigeria and its diaspora.

“By investing back home, we build bridges that foster growth and prosperity for both Nigeria and its diaspora”, NIDCOM Boss said.

Hon Nathan Cooper, Speaker of Alberta Legislature, echoed his appreciation for the Nigerian community, emphasising Alberta’s shared values of family, hard work, and compassion.
He noted that Nigerians play essential roles in education, social work, and legal services, adding, “Nigerian leadership in various sectors across Alberta showcases their good nature and strengthens the bond between our jurisdictions.”

Cooper, who also took the delegation round a tour of the Parliament, highlighted the importance of the partnership, stating that the relationship between Alberta and the Nigerian community is fundamental to the province’s values and future development.

Present at the Meeting were: Kelechi (Kaycee) Madu, Former Deputy Premier of Alberta, Jibola Abitoye, Councillor, City of Fort, Funke Olokude, (NCA), Edmonton, Denrele Yusuf, a renowned banking professional in Calgary.
