Chairman/CEO NiDCOM, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa has expressed the need to deepen inter-agency collaboration with the Directorate of Technical Aid Corps (DTAC) for enhanced efficiency, in line with the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu

This was expressed during a visit to her office, by Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakubu, Director General, Directorate of Technical Aid Corps (DTAC), in Abuja as contained in a statement released by the Commission.

Dabiri-Erewa reiterated the need to strengthen Diaspora Communties to ensure the well-being and adequate integration of labour migrants into their host societies.

“The key thing is to brief the Volunteers before they depart the country on how to relate with their host countries and Nigerians in those countries”, she stated.

Earlier, Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakubu, Director General, DTAC has re-emphasised the need to close the gap between Nigerian Missions and its global Diaspora Community.

Yakubu called for complete change of mindset in dealing with the Diaspora and the urgent establishment of Desks Offices in Foreign Missions.

“When we deploy volunteers for soft power, we are adding to the Diaspora you deal with. Therefore, there is a lot of work to do together especially to ensure that they portray a good image of the country abroad,” he said.

Technical Aid Corps is a parastatal under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is Nigeria’s soft diplomacy in which Nigerian professionals are sent overseas to engage in Volunteer Work. It was established in 1985 under President Ibrahim Babangida.
