Former Nigerian President, Muhammad Buhari has said that having exhausted their rights as constitutionally allowed, Abubakar Atiku of People’s Democratic Party and Peter Obi of Labour Party should take the hand of fellowship extended by the Tinubu’s Government.

Buhari in a statement released by his aide, Garba Shehu welcomed the Supreme Court judgement which affirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the the lawfully elected candidate in the February 25 Presidential election.

The Supreme Court of Nigeria Thursday has affirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the lawfully elected candidate in the February 25 Presidential election.

Leading a seven man-panel, Justice Inyang Okoro having resolved all the issues against the appellants went ahead to affirm the election of Tinubu as President, hinged verdict on the fact that the appeals against Tinubu lacked merit, subsequently dismissed them.

In his reaction, the former President, Buhari said further that Nigerians now have arrived at the last bus-stop, after tortuous 8-months of expensive legal journey, adding that the nation deserves a break and applauded the opposition to have fought a good fight.

According to him, “Having now exhausted their rights as constitutionally allowed, they should take the hand of fellowship extended by the Tinubu and Shettima APC- led government.

“Let them allow the Government to run their administration and the people to enjoy the full benefits of the promises the All Progressives Congress (APC) made.”

He said the decision to dismiss the appeals by Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), by the Supreme Court, is a welcome relief to him and to a majority of the citizens of Nigeria.

The former President repeated what he said on the earlier 6 September verdict of the Election Petition Court, which affirmed Tinubu’s victory, that welcome decision is “a reaffirmation of the will of the majority of people against the determined will of a hard-fighting minority.”

Buhari who expressed concern over low voting percentages over the country, especially in urban areas, said this should change, given the acceptance, vibrancy of democracy in Nigeria, while wished the President and his team a successful term in office.
