The Nigerian Federal Government has reassured its citizens and international partners of continued stability, security, following a recent advisory from the United States authorizing the departure of non- emergency personnel from its embassy in Abuja.

The Federal government characterized the U.S. decision as a precautionary measure based on internal protocols, emphasizing that it does not reflect the broader security landscape across Nigeria.

Speaking on the matter, the Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, stated, “While we acknowledge isolated security challenges in some areas, there is no general breakdown of law and order, and vast majority of the country remains stable.”

He reiterated that public institutions are fully operational, with no disruption to governance, economic activity, or daily life, highlighting significant measurable gains in ongoing security operations
nationwide.

“These successes are attributed to coordinated military efforts, intelligence- led interventions, and strengthened inter-agency collaboration.

“Such initiatives have effectively disrupted criminal networks, curtailed the activities of armed groups, and enhanced safety in vulnerable communities.
“Our security agencies remain actively
engaged in protecting lives and property, and the results of these efforts are increasingly evident,” he added.

The Minister further affirmed Nigeria’s commitment to fostering a conducive environment for business, travel, and investment.

He noted that ongoing economic reforms are bolstering investor confidence and improving the country’s global standing, with international partners continuing to actively engage, signaling their trust in Nigeria’s stability and long-term prospects.
While acknowledging that every country has the right to issue travel advisories based on its own assessment, the FG urged for balanced and current reporting that accurately reflects the progress being made.

He added, “We encourage our international partners to continuously engage with Nigerian authorities to obtain a more comprehensive, current understanding of the situation on the ground,” Idris stated.

In conclusion, the Federal Government reiterated its unwavering commitment to enhancing security, safeguarding both citizens and visitors, and assuring the global community that Nigeria remains a safe and welcoming destination for all.
