The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has achieved a monumental milestone with the official approval of its Scheme of Service by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF).

This landmark development, the first of its kind for the Commission, heralds a new era of institutional excellence and human capital development for NIMC.

Driven by the strategic vision of NIMC’s Director General/CEO, Engr (Dr) Abisoye Coker-Odusote, this approval is a direct outcome of her far-reaching reforms aimed at repositioning the Commission as a modern, efficient, and globally competitive institution.

The new Scheme of Service is firmly rooted in her five-point agenda and a people-focused leadership approach, aligning seamlessly with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The newly approved framework provides a robust and comprehensive structure for NIMC’s operations.

It meticulously defines staff cadres, clear promotion pathways, an enhanced organizational structure, precise job functions, essential qualification requirements, and elevated professional standards.

Crucially, it is fully compliant with Public Service Rules and incorporates international best practices for career progression and sustained institutional growth.

During the formal presentation ceremony, Mr. Imirhe Gabriel Nwagolo, Deputy Director, Scheme of Service, Organisational Design Department at the OHCSF, lauded NIMC for its unwavering commitment to excellence.

He highlighted that NIMC stands among a select few federal agencies to successfully secure approval for such a dedicated Scheme of Service, underscoring the significance of this achievement.

Representing the DG/CEO, Mrs. Rhoda Jackden, Head of Human Capital Management, conveyed profound appreciation to the OHCSF for the approval.

She hailed the development as “a laudable and significant milestone” and reiterated NIMC’s steadfast commitment to the diligent and effective implementation of the new Scheme.

A key feature of the approved Scheme is the introduction of new Enrolment, Card, and Commercial Cadres, which will operate alongside existing ones, further diversifying career opportunities within the Commission.

This historic approval is set to empower NIMC staff, streamline operations, and ultimately enhance the Commission’s capacity to fulfill its core mandate of providing seamless identity management services to Nigerians. It marks a pivotal step towards a more structured, professional, and efficient NIMC.
