His visit underscored the NYSC’s
commitment to its Corps Members, with the DG stating that their well-being is a top priority that would never be compromised.

According to the statement, the DG emphasized that while luxury is not expected in orientation camps, minimum standards are essential.

During his visit, General Nafiu disclosed that discussions are actively underway with the Niger State Govt to facilitate immediate repairs and upgrade the affected structures.
He firmly assured the 2026 Batch “A” Stream II Corps Members, including those dislodged from the FCT, that they would not be left stranded.

The Director-General also took the opportunity to commend the Corps Members for their discipline, noting the absence of social media posts or pictures of the damaged facilities.

He further sensitized them on the core essence of the scheme, highlighting its role in fostering national cohesion amidst Nigeria’s diverse landscape and encouraging them to build lasting friendships.

Additionally, General Nafiu promoted the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship
Development (SAED) programme, presenting it as a vital advantage for job creation and an alternative source of livelihood post-service.
He also informed the Corps Members that they would be the first set to participate as ad-hoc staff in the 2027 general elections, with requisite training to be provided by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He cautioned them against partisanship and electoral vices, reiterating the NYSC’s nonpartisan stance.

Concluding his address, General Nafiu urged Corps Members to prioritize their safety, especially during the rainy season, advising vigilance against storms, floods, and other associated dangers.

According to Mrs. Martina Shuaibu Ibrahim, Coordinator, NYSC Niger State, a total of 2,484 Corps Members registered for the Orientation Course at the camp.
