The former Head of State and founder of National Youth Service Corps, General Yakubu Gowon has poured encomiums on the Acting Director General of the Scheme, Christy Uba and other members of her management team for their exceptional performance.

He stated this when Mrs Uba paid him a courtesy visit at his Asokoro residence in Abuja as contained in statement released by the Scheme Spokesman, Eddy Megwa on Thursday.

General Gowon urged the Acting Director General and the NYSC management team to continue to build on the legacies of the founding fathers of the Scheme.

He lauded the various contributions of Corps Members to national development, adding that the Scheme needs the support of all Nigerians.

“You and your team are doing well. Continue with the good work you have been doing and keep the flag flying. You have performed exceptionally well”, Gowon added.

In her remarks, Mrs Uba thanked General Gowon for his unending support for the Scheme while informed the Scheme founder that the workforce is stable and their morale is high.
