In a statement issued on Thursday and signed by the Director of Media and Public Affairs, Ooni’s Palace, Otunba Moses Olafare, the Ooni who is also the Permanent Co-Chairman of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria (NCTRN) described Disu’s appointment as timely, especially at a period when the nation is grappling with complex security challenges.

According to the statement, the Ooni expressed confidence in the experience, operational competence, and leadership capacity of the new Acting IGP, noting that his track record within the Nigeria Police Force positions him to provide focused and result-oriented leadership.

Ooni Ogunwusi called for a renewed security strategy anchored on intelligence-driven policing, improved welfare for officers, community engagement, and strengthened collaboration with other security agencies.
He stressed that restoring public confidence in the police remains critical to achieving lasting peace and stability.

The revered monarch further urged officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force to rally behind the Acting IGP in order to consolidate ongoing reforms and reposition the Force as a professional, accountable, and people-oriented institution.
While commending President Tinubu for what he described as decisive leadership, the Ooni reaffirmed the commitment of the traditional institution to support all lawful and constitutional efforts aimed at safeguarding lives and property.

He also appreciated the immediate past IGP Kayode Egbetokun for his years of service to the nation and prayed for his continued success in future endeavours.

The Ooni concluded by wishing the Acting IGP wisdom, courage, and divine guidance as he assumes office at a critical moment in Nigeria’s security landscape.
