Nigerian Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo who left the country on Sunday for first high level visit to Canada by a Nigerian leader since year 2000, when former President, Olusegun Obasanjo went on North American nations tour.
According to the Vice President who stated this on his social media platforms, said he will be on 3-day official visit while meeting with the Canadian Deputy Prime Minister, Chrystia Freeland and others.
Osinbajo added that he will be meeting with top parliamentarians, members of the Canadian govt in Ottawa to discuss issues and events around educational collaboration, technology, creative industry and climate justice among others.
Also the Vice President will use the opportunity to meet with leadership of Nigerian community, including from Nollywood and notable govt officials with Nigerian origin, after which he will give a public lecture at the Queen’s University in Kingston on Wednesday.
Nigerian Vice President noted that Nigeria and Canada have over the years maintained a cordial bilateral relationship, and by this visit, he hope for a further strengthening of the ideals that bind both countries together.
