Oyo 2027: Constituents scrutinizes Oseni’s performances for accountability

As the 2027 general elections draw closer, a significant political disquiet is brewing within the Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency.

The Constituents are increasingly scrutinizing the legislative performance of the incumbent lawmaker, Hon. Remi Oseni, prompting critical comparisons with his predecessors and contemporary political figures.

Hon. Oseni, who initially entered the political arena with a notable reputation for private philanthropy and considerable financial influence, is now facing a growing wave of public evaluation.

A substantial segment of the electorate is meticulously assessing his legislative
tenure, measuring it against the established benchmarks set by those who served before him and other lawmakers currently in office.

Political observers within the constituency have noted a distinct geographical disparity in Oseni’s influence.

While he initially secured significant ground in the Ido local government area, largely through provision of transformers and other immediate infrastructural interventions, his sway in Ibarapa East appears to be noticeably waning.
Critics are increasingly vocal, arguing that the lawmaker, who once championed himself as a “man without failed promises,” is now grappling with a burgeoning reputation for unmet expectations as his current mandate draws to a close.

A major point of contention among constituents revolves around a perceived shift in focus towards what many term “stomach infrastructure,” often at the expense of sustainable developmental projects.

This has led to increasing comparisons between Hon. Oseni’s current legislative output and the impactful projects initiated by his predecessor, Hon. Yemi
Taiwo.
Consequently, residents are reportedly demanding a transparent audit of Oseni’s facilitated projects, particularly seeking clarification on the number of health centers and the schools successfully attracted to the constituency during his term in office.

The scrutiny has been further intensified by comparisons of Hon. Oseni’s track record with that of other prominent lawmakers in the state.

These include Hon. Adedeji Stanley Olajide (Agboworin) and Hon. Anthony Adebayo Adepoju (Ibarapa Kan), both of whom have been widely recognized for their delivery of high-impact capital projects.
Among community leaders in Ibarapa East, there is a growing consensus that the “stain of failed promises” is rapidly becoming a substantial political liability for the incumbent.

Specifically within Ibarapa East, the political landscape appears to be shifting in favor of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Many attribute this development to the strategic and consistent influence of the Speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Debo Ogundoyin. Sources within the constituency suggest that Ogundoyin’s sustained presence.
