Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Ibadan North-West/South-West Federal Constituency, Hon. Samson Opeyemi Fatola, has unveiled a five-pillar manifesto focused on infrastructure, welfare, economic empowerment and social development.

Fatola launched the manifesto, titled “The Covenant Code: A 5-Pillar Manifesto — A Blueprint for Legislative Excellence and Urban Transformation,” at the PDP Secretariat in Molete, Ibadan on Sunday.

The five pillars are Infrastructure and Community Development; Housing and Protection; Human Capital and Empowerment; Informal Labour Support; and Social Inclusion and Welfare.

Fatola said the blueprint would combine effective lawmaking, legislative oversight and targeted constituency projects to address persistent challenges facing residents.

He criticised what he described as “empty political promises, recycled slogans and rhetoric” that re-emerge during election cycles without producing meaningful development.

“Our campaign will be issue-based, focusing on practical solutions to the challenges confronting our people,” he said.

The PDP candidate identified flooding, inadequate potable water and poor sanitation as major problems in communities including Foko, Bode and Asaka.

He also pledged to advocate the construction of healthcare centres in Ibadan North-West and Ibadan South-West.

Fatola promised to establish cooperative support schemes for informal workers, particularly market women in Dugbe and Alesinloye, to improve their access to finance and other forms of assistance.

He also proposed a Senior Citizens Programme featuring a food bank and monthly stipends for elderly residents. For people struggling with addiction, he said his policies would emphasise rehabilitation and reintegration rather than criminalisation.

Describing the manifesto as a “sacred covenant” with the electorate, Fatola urged residents to hold him accountable if elected.

The event was attended by PDP candidates, party leaders, supporters and stakeholders, including the party’s candidate for Oyo South Senatorial District, Hon. Bolanle Sarumi Aliu.
