The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF), Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, and Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede have promised stronger collaborations with Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) in effort to improve the welfare of pensioners under the federal Defined Benefit Scheme.
The messages of support and collaborations were obtained when the Executive Secretary of PTAD, Tolulope Odunaiya, paid courtesy visits to the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) and Executive Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) respectively on Wednesday,19th March, 2025 in Abuja.
At the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, the PTAD boss acknowledged the support and guidance that the OHCSF has provided PTAD over the last ten years, which has contributed to the Directorate’s recorded successes. According to her, “in particular, the Directorate has received guidance in the clarification of extant establishment circulars and confirming the records of service of Demobilized Police Officers under the Defined Benefit Scheme” which have been quite invaluable in sustaining PTAD’s operations.
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson- Jack, in her remarks commended PTAD in strong terms over what she termed innovative service in the management of pension under the federal Defined Benefit Scheme and assured of the continued support of her office towards achieving PTAD’s mandate.
Mrs. Walson-Jack used to opportunity to encourage Ministries, Departments and Agencies to digitise their services and processes, adding that the OHCSF has set the pace in that regard.Making her presentation at the EFCC, Tolulope Odunaiya remarked that PTAD and the EFCC have enjoyed a mutually beneficial relationship, and have held engagements in the past, focused on addressing matters of mutual concern including preventing pension fraud and promoting transparency and good governance.
She further requested the EFCC’s expertise in the forensic analysis of documents to ascertain genuineness and authenticity, and recommend that both organizations should continue to hold knowledge-sharing engagements, so as to update EFCC on new developments in the pension industry and the challenges that PTAD faces, to ultimately improve their ability to address pension fraud issues.
The Executive Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mr. Ola Olukoyede affirmed the Commission’s readiness to support PTAD in combating pension fraud.Saying “We appreciate what you are doing in the transition arrangement, and you are also aware that we have always been supporting you way back in the area of investigation and in the recovery of money, among others”.
He also noted that one of the biggest investigations the Commission ever carried out under pension management was with the collaboration of PTAD and mentioned that some of the cases are still in court.
Mr. Olukoyede further expressed the Commission’s willingness to synergise with agencies committed to reform and transparency, bearing in mind that such partnerships are essential to advancing the nation’s economic interests in line with the President’s task of promoting and contributing positively to the economy.
